Ryo Photography

Teresa and I decided to bite the internet bullet and registered a domain. We are now the proud owners of Ryo Photograpy, http://ryophotography.com. It will just allow me to have a definitive site to develop for her. Eventually, we might have a decent site worth promoting what she has been doing with her photography.

CART Lyon Website Project

For a little over a month now, I have been playing around with hosting a website on an old computer that we have had sitting around collecting dust. I decided to see what I could do for not too much money, and after a little research, found it would not be terribly difficult to get a website running on my PC without any cost, other than the existing internet service and electricity the PC uses.

So, one night after our kids were asleep, I downloaded all the necessary open-source components needed, installed them on the ol' PC, and it was ready to run a basic website. The most basic component, the HTTP server is free to download from apache.org. They have a bunch of other components that I am playing with and learning about, but for now, I am sticking to basic HTML and javascript.

After a month or so tinkering around, I have a crude, but functional website. I have added in some advertisements from Google and an affiliate store from Amazon.com to add a little more substance to the site.

It will eventually be used to help Teresa promote her photography, but it is still fairly crude at the moment, so that goal is still a little off in the distance.

Remember the Old Woodside Sales Office?

It is really weird to think that we bought our house 4 years ago this month. I guess we are on track for sticking around for the 5 years we figured it would be before we would truly move.
